Research Studies
In an effort to pursue our mission statement: "To advance the scientific body of knowledge associated with articular and meniscal cartilage restoration, with the goal of reducing the impairment associated with loss of cartilage function," the CRCI is involved with clinical studies. These studies not only involve current applications of cartilage surgery, but also investigations of new cartilage treatment. The studies which involve new approaches are typically industry sponsored and FDA monitored. If interested in more information, see current studies below.
Current Studies
Denovo NT: Phase IV-Articular Cartilage Study. Post-marketing study of articular cartilage defects of the knee treated with DeNovo NT, Natural Tissue Graft
Depuy GCK: To examine a new patellofemoral arthroplasty. Enrollment to open in July 2007.

Past Studies
Osiris: Phase I-Meniscus study using adult stem cells. Closed to enrollment. Two patients were enrolled at this site. One year follow-up on these two patients will be in February 2007.
Depuy SIS: Phase I-Meniscal scaffold study. Closed to enrollment. Nine patients were enrolled at this site. All nine patients are 1+ years.
Depuy CAIS: Phase I-Articular Cartilage study. fourteen patients enrolled. One year study follow-up will be in March 2007.
Neocartilage: Phase I-Articular Cartilage study using Neocartilage (living tissue grown from juvenile cartilage cells) to fill the defect. Open to enrollment.
Bionicare Registry: Registry-Electrical Pulse Stimulator System for the treatment of Osteoarthritis of the knee. Open to enrollment.
